Offering members investment choice recognises that individuals have different requirements for their retirement savings and different tolerances for investment risk.
You can pick one of these strategies or a combination of the two depending on your individual requirements for your retirement savings. Some of the factors which you need to consider before making this decision are set out in the Fund’s leaflet “What is Members’ Investment Choice?” This leaflet and the Fund’s investment statement contain full details on how member investment choice works and the specific objectives and risk levels for each strategy.
Balanced Strategy
This is a medium risk strategy which should deliver a higher average return than the Conservative Strategy as a reward for the higher risk taken. The returns may be quite volatile from year-to-year.
Benchmark Asset Allocation

Conservative Strategy
This is a lower risk strategy which aims to achieve relatively consistent returns and minimise losses. The returns should not vary much from year-to-year.
Benchmark Asset Allocation

For both strategies:
- The benchmark asset allocation is managed passively
- All asset classes are managed actively
- Global Bonds are 100% hedged
- Global Shares are 50% hedged
